cheap and refundable basic solar survey

There are some facts about solar that some people believe to be true that are in fact a fiction.

Take for example a belief that solar panels do not work in cloudy weather. The fact is, that solar panels work on light and not on heat. They start producing when the light comes on and they do not need any heat. When cold solar panels make more energy than when hot. The intensity of light is important but at the same intensity of light cold panels work better.

Solar panels can face any side, even North. In the northern hemisphere panels work best if facing South at an inclination that is about 12 degrees less than your latitude, for UK between 30 and 40 degrees. Panels facing North in UK perform about 70% worse than panels facing South. However, solar panels can be profitably installed from East on southern side to West with pure South being the favourite. Panels that are connected to one inverter should be facing the Sun at the same angle i.e., if you place some panels on SW side and some panels on SE side it would be best if each set would be connected to separate inverter.

UK Feed-In Tariff or Clean Energy Cashback Scheme is tax free. Depends, for private non-incorporated investors without VAT the income from 4kW solar power plant would be exempt from VAT and from personal income tax. The electricity they use on site is not subject to any taxation. Solar installation would carry reduced VAT at 5%. No capital allowance applies. Companies and VAT registered sole traders pay VAT on export and their solar electricity income is not exempt from corporate tax. But capital allowance applies.
