Solar project can be very expensive or very cheap. The main issue between cheap an expensive ones is profitability. Expensive projects get subsidies, sell energy back and/or sell electricity at higher rate feed-in tariff while cheap ones only replace electricity delivered from utility with a homemade one. The first is for investors, the second one for handy and crafty people. The first one is grid connected. The second one is stand alone with batteries. If you own a home in London you are lucky. Actually, you are double lucky if your home has a South facing roof 8×4 meters (or so) with a pitch of about 30°. You can get solar panels installed that will return a tax free 17%pa on your investment of 12-14.000 pounds.

Cheap Solar Project

If you do not live in the UK or a country with similar Feed-in tariff, you have two options. You can just have to open your checkbook and pay the going rate to one of contractors that will set-up your solar project and get all the administrative procedures for you, or you will have to get plans, cheap supplies and do some work yourself if you wish to do it without the excessive use of your checkbook.
